so ... i'm home now. i will definitely miss japan, but it's good to be home. i missed all of my animals very much. also, i didn't fully realize it until i got on here tonight, but i think i also missed my computer. my brother's computer was convenient and nice to have available, but argh, i hate windows. why does every windows user that i know always have some sort of issue with their computer? speaking of computer issues, the keyboard problem here seems to have mysteriously fixen itself while i was away, so that's good.
when i checked in at narita around 2:15pm today (yesterday), they said my flight was overbooked and they were going to put me on a continental direct flight instead. i'd get home nearly four hours earlier, since i didn't have to fly all the way to atlanta and then back again, so that was fine with me. they told me to come back at 4pm to get my boarding pass. at 4pm, though, i was told i'd be on my original flight(s). sitting on the plane, being tired & all cramped up in small coach class seats, watching your plane fly several hours out of the way on the little screen overhead can be quite frustrating.
... morei think the plane from tokyo was completely full. i watched the curse of the jade scorpion since it was the first movie and at that point i was still wide awake. it was pretty good, but you know, i have this thing & i hate woody allen. i kept wanting to throttle him. it's not as if his character was all that annoying (actually, he was a little annoying), it's just woody allen. i just can't get past that whole soon-yi thing, which is quite silly considering i don't even know any of these people. i mean, it has absolutely no affect on my life, but the man just creeps me out. the score was the second movie. despite mr. deniro, mr. norton, mr. brando & yoda (frank oz), it was very ... average. it wasn't bad, but i started to get sleepy during the movie and it wasn't gripping me enough to make me really want to stay awake. i did, though, so there. i went to sleep when they started with the tv stuff. there were only 2 movies on the way to tokyo, and the book listed the two i'd just seen followed by all that extra filler junk. when i woke up, though, serendipity was on. where'd that come from? it wasn't listed in the book for flights from japan/asia! argh. i saw about the last half hour which did nothing for me. i'm sure things would be different had i seen the entire film.
the flight home from atlanta was nearly full, but thankfully the row i was assigned to just had me in the aisle seat and a guy in the window seat. the empty middle seat was nice because i could actually move my arms without hitting anyone. also, i put my backpack in that seat's floor storage area so i was able to stretch my legs a little bit. i slept through the entire flight. i am so paranoid about checking baggage, but i bought too much crap in japan so it was necessary. i am happy to report that my checked bag made it from tokyo to atlanta, and after i re-checked it in atlanta, it got on the correct flight and met me here. hooray.
you know, the last movie quote i put in here was from godzilla (1954 - aka gojira), which was my little attempt at humor because i was going to japan & all ... but you know what? i saw a godzilla statue in ginza and i got my brother to take a picture of me with him. for me, that was one of the coolest things i saw on my whole trip. (that and all the nmbc and ultraman stuff because i am a big dork).
now i must go pass out because i'm tired and my body is aching.
random movie quote:
"how are you?"
"don't ask. i'm tired of my own complaints. i need to get some new thoughts."
