argh. i fear that i'm going to have to bury my head in the sand and quit reading the news. otherwise, i'm going to get more concerned, which will lead to more bitching in this journal. i read it, i think about it, and because it's up there in my head - i want to write about it. i see that getting old really fast.
this is distressing. mr. thompson says: "How anybody can now turn this into a pro-choice or pro-life argument, I can't understand it." hello? how can anybody not? if all they want to do is provide prenatal care - then make the women eligible for prenatal care. use another program besides CHIP. problem solved. why do it in a roundabout way that will most certainly assist the crusade to give fetuses a legal status? there's an ulterior motive here, if you ask me, especially given dubya's actions in the past month or so. blah blah blah. "The president feels, the administration feels, a lot of people in Congress feel that this is a much better way to attempt to solve this problem of teen-age pregnancy," Thompson said in an interview Wednesday. "Let's try them out and see if we can't get it to work." i'm so glad that we have an extra $33 million laying around so that we can 'try it out and see if we can't get it to work'. ok. i'll shut up about that stuff now.
i never put up any pictures of the new cats, did i? well here's cleo and here's ramses. both of the kitties have been quite interested in zira since they've arrived. i figured i'd give all of them some time to get used to each other before attempting an introduction. so, tonight both cleo and ram actually 'met' zira. apparently, cleo thinks she is a rabbit. she was only too happy to be friendly with zira, and zira seemed to like her, too. within a couple of minutes, cleo had entered zira's cage, plopped down in the litter box and started eating hay. goofy cat. ram just wanted to play & slap zira around, so he got cut off pretty quickly.
roses unwillingly visited the vet today to have her diabetes checked. the good news is that we now don't think she even has diabetes. the last time blood work was done, it was pre-anesthesia, so her blood sugar was probably so high because she'd been allowed no food and/or water for many hours prior. today her blood sugar was about half what it was before - and it's in the completely normal range, so there's nothing to worry about. she's doing just fine. hooray for that!
random movie quote:
"what is this, wonka? some kind of funhouse?"
"why? are you having fun?"
