i think i'm all better now. i've felt pretty good the past couple of days. i don't know what that illness was all about, but i'm glad it's gone now. i did finish painting my refrigerator on sunday. it looks good, and it looks even better back in the kitchen where it belongs.
i helped my mother hang some mini-blinds earlier in the week. the first one took forever because we were having trouble screwing in the screws for the supports. when we did the other two blinds, we hammered in & removed a nail first, and then used that hole for the screws. that made the whole screwing ordeal not really an ordeal at all. i'm paying for that first one, though. my right shoulder blade is all sore like someone's been repeatedly punching me. that's why i was looking for my tiger balm. i never did find it. when i was watching hockey on the olympics earlier, i saw a tv ad for tiger balm. i know it was just to taunt me, because i have never before in my life seen ad for it.
for the past month or so, sarah's been working at this podiatrist's office. just basic clerical stuff - answering phones, creating & maintaining the files, etc. early last week, she asked me if i would go in and work for her on wednesday & thursday of this week. she had jury duty the first day, and on thursday she was going to the doctor. i agreed, but before last week ended the podiatrist had hired a new girl that was going to take over the billing & miscellaneous medical stuff, so sarah said they probably wouldn't need me after all. on monday afternoon, though, sarah called and said they still wanted me to come in on thursday. the new girl was going to handle wednesday by herself, but on thursday they had more patients scheduled and figured she might need some help. i went up there for an hour or so on tuesday so that sarah could show me whatever i needed to know. i met britt, the doctor, and she seemed really nice. the new girl wasn't around so i wouldn't be meeting her until thursday.
... moreso thursday came and i worked from 9-5. the morning was kind of slow, but then things picked up. i ended up making three new appointments for the afternoon, which basically filled the schedule. so the whole being busy thing made the time go by faster. robin, the girl britt had just hired, was kinda weird. she didn't really seem to do much of anything all day. there's a big stack of old paper that's been chopped into smaller bits of paper to use as notes or whatever. occasionally that girl would come around and shuffle through that paper as if she was looking for something, but there's nothing there. i mean, it's all blank paper, you know? she did some other weird things that i can't really remember, but when i talked to sarah that night, i told her that it seemed to me like she didn't do much all day.
sarah & i talked once about having boys vs. having girls. i told her that if i ever had children, i would hope for boys. i just know that if i had a daughter, my luck would have it so that she would be so completely unlike me and want to wear too much makeup and wear skanky clothes and act stupid around males and i would tell her she's grounded all the time and she would hate me. i was saying something like if i had a daughter right now, she would probably be all into britney spears and want to dress like her, etc., and i would go insane. when sarah called me last night to see how my day went and to tell me the news, she said "guess what my baby is?! it's a girl! a little girl! i'm going to dress her up in britney spears mini skirts!" heh. sarah was really hoping for a girl, so i'm very happy that she's getting one.
this evening after work, sarah came over to show us her new ultrasound pictures. in two of the pictures, the baby is laughing. i know that she & norman are getting so excited. i got other news from sarah, also. that robin girl just up and left today at around 11am. sarah noticed her leaving, but thought she was just going to lunch or something. she never came back, though. i was like "i told you she was a freak!" britt told sarah that robin didn't really get anything done yesterday, though, and that if she didn't shape up, britt was going to have to let her go anyway. she's saved the trouble now, i suppose.
they're doing some kind of construction on the freeway underpass near my house. i don't know what they're doing; my mother just told me that she saw a sign up about that intersection being closed all weekend. well, they started around 9pm and it's now right at 2am and they're still going just as strong. i wonder if they'll be doing this all night long ... because it sounds like they're blowing up the frigging freeway. i guess they're ripping out concrete or something, but damn it's loud. i don't know how anyone around here will sleep. we're at least halfway down the block, too, so it must really suck for the people down at the corner.
go hockey! go team usa! go aeros!
yep ok. ok bye.
