it's been an odd couple of days. yesterday was full of family weirdness. i wish could have just disappeared. i ended up writing an email to rob last night, mostly because it's just easy for me to talk to him about that kind of stuff. he just understands. he's had plenty of family weirdness in his own life, and because we dated for many years, he's dealt with my family weirdness personally.
... morethis afternoon, when i realized that my mother was home from work - i realize that rob's here, also. it was like "where'd you two come from?" apparently he arrived within minutes of her. he asked if i wanted to join them for some coffee. i just assumed that he'd read my email, and that's why he showed up today. he wanted to see my new fish, so we did that. we also showed him all the work that's been done on my house, since the last time he was here was what - august? ... looks in archives ... yes, the last time i actually saw rob was august 5th. the three of us went to starbucks because it's the closest coffee shop (to everything in the entire world) and hung about for an hour or so. just talked about you know - things, life, whatnot. ("life is not whatnot and it's none of your business." sorry, i couldn't resist.) he brought us home around 5:30pm because he was going to meet with a headhunter at 6:15.
as he left, he said something about calling later, but i didn't pay that much attention because a) i didn't really know what the hell he was talking about, and b) rob doesn't always do what he says he's gonna do. he did call, though, a little after 8pm. i didn't realize that 'call later' meant 'call later today'. i also sent him the link to that john ashcroft singing rubbish yesterday, so that's the first thing we talked about. then he said something like "i had no idea things were all messed up." - referring to my other email. today was the first time he even checked his email since sunday. so when he stopped by today, it was simply because he wanted to. curiouser and curiouser.

"welcome, humans. i am ready for you. fish, plankton, sea greens and protein from the sea. fresh as harvest day. overwhelming, am i not?
