i've gone days without updating again, and i don't know why. yay me. i've had time to write - i just haven't. my sleep schedule has changed considerably in the past week. i've actually been sleeping at night. then i've been waking up around 5-6am, which is just ridiculous. this matters because i always feel more creative (and am usually more productive) during the nighttime hours.
... morei'm trying to remember what actually prompted this change in my sleep schedule, and i can't really recall. perhaps it is just a combination of things. my brother (the one who lives in japan) is coming to visit, and he arrives on saturday. i've wanted my schedule to be at least somewhat normal when he arrives, so there's that. end of last week, my parents finally hired a contractor to work on their house. they started on the garage on monday, and so there's been lots of loud noise around, starting early in the morning.
the garage door on my parents' house was already messed up, but after the flood it pretty much became inoperable. that first contractor they hired was going to do the work on their house, so those guys actually managed to get the damn door up, but then there was the big ruckus. mr. contractor decided that he wasn't going to work on my parents' house, and they just left the garage door up because really, they couldn't have put it down without ripping out the ceiling in there or something. all this time, my mother has had a huge tarp thing hanging there in place of a door. it's not very attractive and certainly not very secure. i know she is very happy to have an actual door again. i think they're supposed to be done with everything by tomorrow evening. it seems like there's more than a day of work left, though.
so yeah, my brother is coming to visit from japan. his girlfriend is also coming to visit. she doesn't have as much time off work, though, so she won't be arriving until sunday, and then she's going back earlier than him, too. this will be her first time to visit the u.s. and i hope she has a wonderful time. i'm of course excited to spend time with my brother and i'm really happy that i'll be getting to spend more time with her, too.
i returned the non-working mouse and instead bought a cordless one. it's nice, and it works. so yay for that!
